Hoshino Resorts KAI Beppu Begins Construction on June 14, 2019
Hoshino Resorts held the groundbreaking ceremony for Hoshino Resorts KAI Beppu in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, and commenced construction on June 14, 2019. As part of the hot spring hotel brand KAI with 15 facilities developed across the country by Hoshino Resorts, this facility is designed by Kengo Kuma, a world-renowned architect, and is projected to open in Spring 2021.
The Beppu Onsen hot springs boast the largest number of sources and the largest yield in all of Japan. KAI Beppu is located in a place overlooking Beppu Bay, and it is a historic area which many hot spring tourists from all over Japan have visited ever since the opening of the Old Port of Beppu in the Meiji era. A hot spring district has grown around the Old Port, which serves as the entrance to Beppu Bay, and it has been called “the sleepless town” due to being crowded with people until late at night.
KAI, a hot spring hotel brand developed in famous hot spring resorts throughout the country, offers hospitality unique to Japan which can only be encountered in that place, during that season, and a comfortable space emphasizing a pleasant, typically Japanese atmosphere. Following Hoshino Resorts KAI Aso (Kokonoecho, Kusu-gun, Oita Prefecture), this is the second facility to open in Kyushu.
