Take home regional handcrafts at KAI properties – Create your own original handcrafts during your stay with us at KAI
From January 12 to July 16 2021, regional crafts can be made during your stay at our hot spring ryokan brand, KAI, to enjoy a focused time and having a souvenir of the trip. We want guests to enjoy a trip with excitement and new discoveries whilst taking all possible measures of preventing the spread of infection. With this in mind, we decided to create a program where guests can enjoy traditional regional crafts through making them in the guest rooms. A focused time, different to that of work can guide guests into therapeutic time, reminding us of our childhood days of creating something. The items created can be brought home so it will remind you of the trip as you decorate it in your living room or wear it.
KAI Tsugaru – Kogin embroidery kit
It is vital to avoid the Three C’s (close contact, confined spaces (with poor ventilation), and crowded places), to wear masks, to wash hands and disinfect regularly, to take social distancing, in our daily lives. We live in a time where we restrain ourselves from having maximum fun on a trip because of these new routines. This project started with one of our staff member’s idea to want to welcome guests, who have come a long way to get to the property, with the warmth of regional handcrafts. This program introduces guests to regional handcrafts as well as the art of creation, whilst taking all possible measures of preventing the spread of infection.
1. Can be enjoyed by the guests only, in their rooms
2. Through regional handcrafts, culture and the use of natural materials, guests can relax and enjoy their time creating.
3. Items may be brought home, reminding guests of the time during their trip
