Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yatsugatake, a resort hotel located in nature-rich Yatsugatake, Yamanashi Prefecture will host the “Bonfire Wine Salon” from September 3 to November 30, 2021, at the Piment Street of the premise. During this limited period, Piment Street will turn into a space where the crackling fire in the crisp air becomes music. Yamanashi wine and autumn snacks such as roasted chestnuts can be enjoyed for a calm autumn evening.
RISONARE Yatsugatake is located on the border between Yamanashi and Nagano Prefecture, two of Japan’s leading wine regions. As it is a place where a wide variety of Japanese wines are available, events where guests can enjoy local wines are held each season. Autumn is the season when new wine goes on sale. This event was planned to provide an opportunity for a variety of new local sake to be tasted, including wine from Nagano Prefecture such as Yamanashi Nouveau, which is available starting from November 3. Spend an afternoon on the highlands to watch the flames flicker, to listen to the crackling of firewood, and to enjoy wine and sweets.
Characteristics of “Bonfire Wine Salon”
1)Surrounding the bonfire
The “Bonfire Wine Salon” will be held at the main street, Piment Street, which is a spacious place where guests can relax around the bonfire and enjoy the flames. Sofas are lined up around the bonfire, and cushions and blankets are also prepared. Under the autumn skies in the evening, guests can warm themselves with fire and a glass of wine.
2)New Wine from Yamanashi and Nagano Prefecture
10 kinds of new wines from Yamanashi and Nagano prefecture will be served daily in kitchen carts along Piment Street. New wine made using Koshu or Muscat Bailey A, harvested this year in Yamanashi Prefecture, is called “Yamanashi Nouveau,” and will be available from November 3rd. Yamanashi nouveau is characterized by its fresh and fruity flavors and scents. Also, new wine made with Nagano Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc has a slightly sweet taste. Both are light in character, and we recommend guests enjoy this year’s grape harvest and find their favorite winery.
3)Wine with roasted chestnuts, inspired by the Italian autumnal tradition
In Italy, the sight of rows of stalls selling roasted chestnuts is a popular autumn scenery. Since RISONARE Yatsugatake was built based on the image of a mountainous city in Italy, baked goods using roasted chestnuts and chestnut powder are prepared as snacks to accompany new wine. We offer a set of roasted chestnuts and “Torta di Castagnaccio,” which is a traditional baked confectionery in Tuscany region of Italy using chestnut powder, Castagnaccio, arranged into RISONARE Yatsugatake-style. The Castagnaccio has a moist chestnut flour dough inside and a crunchy tart dough outside, accented with the texture of nuts and the flavor of rosemary. We recommend dipping the roasted chestnuts in olive oil or salt and Castagnaccio with fresh cream mixed with sweet wine. The set with slightly sweet roasted chestnuts and baked goods goes perfectly with new wine.
